Join us as we give a warm welcome to Barak Stockler, 4Front’s new Diller Coordinator. A recent transplant to Baltimore and the newest member of the team, Barak spent the last three years serving as the Youth Director at his childhood synagogue in White Plains, NY, Congregation Kol Ami and on the leadership team at Sababa Surf Camp in Virginia Beach. Barak is passionate about community service, advocacy, and working with teens. Barak serves as program coordinator for Diller Teen Fellows and Students Taking Action for Change.
Q: Why are you excited to join the 4Front team?
I am so delighted to be joining the 4Front team. After interviewing and meeting the team and everyone here at the JCC, it was hard not to be excited! Everyone was so warm and welcoming. I am really happy to part of this community filled with passionate, smart, and thoughtful Jewish Educators.
Q: What will you be doing as Diller Coordinator?
As the Diller Coordinator, I will be running the fellowship program for 11th graders from the greater-Baltimore area. The Diller Fellowship is a year-long, cohort-based experience where teens get to develop their leadership skills, create change based on Tikkun Olam in their own community, and deepen their Jewish identity and connection to Israel, including a 3-week trip in July. The Diller program is also another touchpoint for the Baltimore-Ashkelon partnership, as our teens get to meet and travel with Israeli fellows from our partner city.
Q: What inspired you to want to work with teens?
I was inspired by my mentors growing up! Previous Youth Directors, teachers, and my Rabbi all helped to create the foundational experiences of my high school years. My goal as an educator is to create new and exciting programming so that this next generation can have just as meaningful and powerful a time as I had.
Q: What can we expect from the Diller program this year?
The Diller program is in full swing now! We just came back from our Leadership Shabbaton where our teens were able to create a weekend of fun and immersive programming. Our biggest event coming up is our Jewish Community Mifgash where our partner cohort from Ashkelon will spend 10 days here exploring the Baltimore Jewish community.
