Meet David (@dlunken) and Jessica (@5jessplunk5 ) Meet David (@dlunken) and Jessica (@5jessplunk5 ) Lunken. Jessica is a experience development professional and David is a management consultant. They are parents to three incredible teens (two of them 4Front alumni) by night...and well also by day. David is a three time Social Innovation Fellowship Mentor and Co-chair of the 4Front Advisory Committee.
David and Jessica and their family have been involved since 2017 when Isabel participated in our first cohort of Social Innovation Fellowship. The three Lunken girls, Isabel, Talia and Nadya (participants of SIF, STAC & Fun[d]) were attracted to 4Front as they saw it as an opportunity to interact with other Jewish teens while simultaneously engaging in amazing programming topics. 4Front offered a way to learn in a very hands on, participatory way with a great cross-section of teens. Once the Lunken girls got involved, they built an amazing connection to the staff and 4Front leadership that lasts until today. They “graduated” from 4Front with an understanding of the strong link Jewish values have to social issues, a deep connection to Israel and confidence to participate and speak up about topics they are passionate about.
Their involvement with the Jewish community reaches back to David’s own adolescence. Raised in a very small Jewish community - David shared, “it was central to everything we did growing up. Attending a Jewish summer camp and having a cohort of friends for over 40 years. It is our community, our core, our people.”
We are so grateful to have incredible lay leaders like David on the 4Front working hard to advocate for and elevate teens in our community!

Over the course of 10 days this past month, the Di Over the course of 10 days this past month, the Diller Teen Fellows completed a virtual Jewish Community Mifgash (JCM). Through a giving circle, cooking lesson, and a workshop teaching skills about having difficult conversations (and much more) the Fellows explored key Diller values like tikkun olam, Jewish identity, and peoplehood – and how some amazing Baltimore organizations, businesses, and people are also connected to these values.

This past Sunday 4Front's Teen Service Council Pop This past Sunday 4Front's Teen Service Council Pop-up participated in National Muffin Day in partnership with Har Sinai Oheb Shalom Congregation. National Muffin Day is a baking extravaganza that brings together bakers to spread awareness about homelessness and share muffins with those who are experiencing homelessness in our community. We started our time together hearing the unbelievable stories of strength and resilience from Rachelle and Monroe, our incredible speakers from the National Faces of Homelessness Speaker's Bureau. These two powerful, strong women shared their stories of survival and hope with our teens and shared the importance of being kind and not judging another human, since we never truly know the full story.

We then set out to bake muffins for individuals in our community! We (virtually) brought together over 30 bakers in thier own homes and are proud to share we will be donating 36 (double chai) dozen delicious chocolate chip muffins to Our Daily Bread. What a lovely and delicious way to spend an afternoon!
Thanks to an incredible partnership with the Israe Thanks to an incredible partnership with the Israel Insight Forum at the Associated, 4Front was able to host a session with Resetting The Table for our our Diller alumni and ECYP teens. What an incredible, thought provoking conversation with both groups of teens as they learned skills to help them learn through differences. In our very first blog post on our website, Elli Nesterovsky, shares some thoughts on her experience with Resetting The Table.

This past Sunday our teens in Social innovation ha This past Sunday our teens in Social innovation had the opportunity to learn from some contemporary entrepreneurs whose businesses are having tremendous positive impact on the local Baltimore community. Thank you to Rabbi Jessy Dressin from Repair the World Baltimore, Dasia Kabia from Ice Queen Snowball Shop, and Thibault Manekin from Seawall Developers as they each shared how their businesses are making a difference, their own narratives of hustle and overcoming adversity, and how they made their dreams a reality. They had some great advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, the most important of which was the power of one step. "Just don't sit on your butt," they reminded the teens, "do something, anything, to get your project going, and that one step will lead to another and another and another." It is the same refrain the teens have been learning from every educator and business person the entire way through this program, from day one when Diana offered them Rabbi Tarfon's (2nd century CE) famous adage "you are note obligated to complete the task, but nor are you free to desist from it." @_icequeens @repink @thibault_manekin
