TSC: TEEN SERVICE COUNCIL

Teen Service Council is a great first step towards identifying needs in our community and making a real difference. Each Teen Service Council pop-up event offers teens an opportunity to learn about a different need in our community, get to know local organizations making a difference, and participate in a hands-on service project to make a positive impact, while also hanging out with other local Jewish teens! Teen Service Council is now offered in partnership with the JCC of Greater Baltimore.

In partnership with Jewish Volunteer Connection’s Season of Service, this Teen Service Council Pop-Up will join Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc (CHAI) by helping to winterize the homes of individuals in CHAI’s Senior Home Repair Program. Projects will involve outdoor, hands-on service to help older adults live with dignity and safety in their homes. Throughout the process, teens will learn about CHAI’s mission to strengthen Baltimore neighborhoods and the issues surrounding housing support in our local community. Transportation will be provided for participating teens to their service locations.

This program is scheduled to take place outside, in-person, but is subject to change based on COVID-19 safety recommendations.

Teen Service Council is an opportunity for teens to learn about the issues affecting our community and participate in hands-on service to make a positive impact. In our first pop-up, teens will gain a deeper understanding of food insecurity in our local community through participating in the SNAP Food Challenge. Then, we’ll complete a service project for the local non-profit, Living Classrooms to support their work feeding families in Baltimore.
